According to statistics, Korea's scrap imports totaled 799,000 tons in May, falling by 14% year on year and decreasing by 18.5% from a month ago.
Among them, 428,000 tons were from Japan, decreasing by 12.9%; 105,000 tons were from Russia, jumping by 80.4% and 88,000 tons were from the US, slumping by 70.4%, all compared to the figures in a month ago.
In the first five months of this year, the country's scrap imports amounted to 4.096 million tons, down by 4.5% year on year.
It's estimated that the country's scrap imports would be at 9.83 million tons in the whole of 2013.
